For over 40 years, the spirit of Velina Ann Marshall has guided a mission built on compassion, strength, and the simple belief that no one should go hungry. What began with 30 women and a hundred meals has grown into a lasting legacy of service — one that her daughter, Charise Vidot, continues with the same love and dedication today.
Our story
Honoring a legacy of service.
Velina Ann Marshall, also known as Vilma, was a passionate community leader whose legacy of service began over 40 years ago in her church. With a group of just 30 women, she started by preparing and distributing 100 meals to families in need. Through her unwavering dedication, that small effort grew into a powerful outreach serving approximately 2,000 meals to families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
Known for her bold spirit, strong voice, and deep compassion, Velina led with both strength and heart. She had a unique ability to connect with people, inspire volunteers, especially young people, and secure resources to support those in need. Whether cooking, baking, or organizing, she poured love into everything she did, leaving a lasting impact on her community.
Today, the Velina Ann Marshall Outreach Inc. continues her legacy under the leadership of her daughter, Charise Vidot, who has carried the mission forward for the past 11 years. Now established as a nonprofit organization, the outreach remains committed to serving the community with the same compassion, love, and dedication that Velina embodied every day.
